The Brogota Platform was created to support users of genetic resources by providing clear, reliable, and up-to-date information on access and benefit-sharing (ABS) frameworks worldwide.
Brogota helps users navigate complex legal requirements and identify applicable national frameworks with confidence.Brogota began in 2016 with the publication of the first global study on ABS legislation.
From the outset, GSS has led the initiative, developing a robust methodology based on direct engagement with national focal points and consultation of country-specific legal databases.
GSS has updated Brogota every two years in alignment with the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
The CBD Secretariat has recognized Brogota for its uniqueness and its role as the most comprehensive study of ABS legislation to date.In 2024, leveraging new digital technologies and responding to the evolving needs of genetic resource users, GSS transformed Brogota into a fully digital platform.
The platform enables users to easily locate ABS legislation, identify relevant authorities, and support traceability by connecting with verified providers of raw materials.
Looking ahead, GSS aims to expand Brogota beyond its ABS focus into a broader environmental compliance platform.
This evolution will incorporate additional regulatory frameworks and foster stronger connections among partners across the industry, supporting responsible and sustainable use of natural resources.

Free access is available after user registration and is subject to approval by GSS to ensure the appropriate and responsible use of the platform. This option allows users to explore selected information and gain an initial understanding of access and benefit-sharing (ABS) frameworks.
Full Access – Annual Plan
For companies, academic institutions, and research organizations seeking comprehensive access, GSS offers an annual subscription plan.
This plan provides full access to all information available on the Brogota Platform, including detailed national ABS legislation, regulatory requirements, and related resources worldwide.
Optional Services for Corporate Users
White Label Internal Platform
Corporate users may opt for a white label version of the platform, customized for internal use. This service allows organizations to integrate their own raw materials, patents, and other relevant data into a private environment accessible only to authorized users within the company. The white label platform supports internal traceability, compliance management, and R&D organization.
Portfolio Integration & ABS Assessment
Another optional service enables corporate users to showcase their portfolio on the Brogota Platform. GSS conducts a thorough analysis of the company’s portfolio in relation to applicable ABS legislation.
